I have never had any problems with my furnace until a few weekends ago. The coldest weekend of them all. I noticed that it was a lot colder than usual outside when I got off work on Friday. My husband was away on a business trip and my children were at their friend’s house for the weekend. I planned to spend my weekend at home relaxing. My plan went completely wrong almost immediately.
I put on my favorite movie and went to turn the heat on. The furnace made a strange noise and then went quiet. I thought it was weird but I continued to wait for it to heat up inside of my house. My house never heated up, in fact, it got colder. I found myself in bed wrapped in three blankets as the night went on, and I was still cold.
After hours of freezing without any relief I decided to go online and search Furnace repair Evanston. I found a company that said they provided around the clock service and gave them a call. When I called I did not expect much because at this time it was around 1 AM. I had just become so desperate for help that I was willing to try anything at any hour.
I called the number not really expecting anybody to pick up but to my surprise a kind lady answered the phone. I told her my problem and she told me it sounded like something they could fix. I was shocked to know that she was able to take my call as an emergency call and get me help right away. She told me she had the perfect person for the job and after taking my address she informed me that he would arrive within an hour.
The furnace repair person showed up 30 minutes after I got off of the phone. Still shocked about this fast, late night, service, I let him in and told him what happened. He seemed very relaxed and assured me that he would have my house warm in no time. About two hours later I could hear the furnace turn on from my room. It was a sound of happiness for me because I was still freezing.
The furnace repair man was able to fix my furnace and save my weekend. I was very close to giving up on my weekend alone to go to my mother’s house where it was warm. I was so happy that I decided to give the furnace repair company a call. They fixed my furnace and it actually seemed to be working better than it ever did before. The repair man charged me one flat rate for his services and was on his way to his next destination.
I will never take for granted simple things in life like a great heater. I run my heater all day just based on the thought of the time when I did not have it.

I know the frustrations of home repair. The first house I bought was just under 100 years old and I did not realize that a house could just fall a part like that. I think we pretty much had to end up gutting the place and renovating everything. That was not the best experience but it was a good lesson.

I think no one ever wants that to happen to them. I sometimes wonder about people who live on the streets during winter. It's no wonder that sometimes there are a few deaths. Doing regular maintenance on your furnace helps to prevent it from shutting down completely. Always do that before winter hits. You never want to be left freezing.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your furnace just gave up on you. My husband had to get ours fixed pretty recently as well but we did not get the same speed of service. Wow 30 min after the phone call he was at your place. Lucky you! Glad he got it fixed and you warm again. Bless you all the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm extremely impressed by the level of service they gave you! I don't know any company around my area that would send someone out so quickly at that time of night. It's especially nice to hear that the repair man was so calm and relaxed, I would dread a moody person coming over.
